Though Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) was mostly a villain in the first season of Stranger Things, he found himself redeemed in the end, and a lot of fans have fallen in love with season 2's "Mom Steve." David Harbour, who plays Hopper on the show, is actually rooting for a team-up with Hopper and Steve in the third season.
Talking to Variety, Harbour explains:
"…I do think the internet knows my love for Joe Keery. I would love to see a Hopper and Steve get-together, but I seriously doubt that's going to happen. I'd love to work with Gaten. I want to get into the backstory of Hopper more. When Eleven goes into the basement, she sees a bunch of boxes, one of which says ‘Hawkins Lab.' ‘Dad.' ‘Vietnam.' ‘New York.' There's a lot of story we can get into around Hopper's time as a cop in New York, Hopper's time in Vietnam."
Aside from Mom Steve becoming a meme, everyone has also fallen in love with Chief Hopper's awkward dance. Though a team-up could seem unlikely for some, let's not forget that a Dustin/Steve team-up was also something nobody expected.
Hopefully the Duffer Brothers have something great in store for Season 3. Though the show may have faltered with "The Lost Sister," the rest of the season was just as fantastic as the first.
No official release date has been announced for Stranger Things 3, but you can check out the first two seasons on Netflix now.
