Storm Reid is the Lead in Disney's 'A Wrinkle in Time'

The upcoming Disney adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time has found its lead in Storm Reid, The Hollywood Reporter reveals. Reid will be playing the role of Meg Murry, a young girl who goes on a galaxy-spanning adventure to find her father.

Reid is known for her debut role in Twelve Years a Slave. She also had roles in the lesser-known films Sleight and A Happening of Monumental Proportions. She is currently 13 years old.

A Wrinkle in Time will be an adaptation of the classic children's novel by Madeleine L'Engle. Thr project is directed by Ava DuVernay. Oprah Winfry, Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon, and are expected to play the supernatural trio Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs, Who and Mrs. Which.


DuVernay revealed that it was her intention to make a big, tentpole movie that is multicultural, something that is still rare. The Murry's will be a mixed-race family and she's looking for a non-white actor to play Meg's classmate, Calvin.

I loved A Wrinkle in Time as a kid. Reid is a very talented actress and DuVernay is a talented director, so I'm looking forward to this project. What do you think of the casting?
