Harrison Ford has been coming back to several roles that have made him a star including Han Solo from Star Wars and Rick Deckard from Blade Runner. He's also set to return for a fifth Indiana Jones film, and director Steven Spielberg believes that this could be his last run with the character.

Talking to the Sun, Spielberg said:

"This will be Harrison Ford's last Indiana Jones movie, I am pretty sure, but it will certainly continue after that."

For a while, it did look like Ford was ready to pass the torch with Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull, but seeing as that movie wasn't received with the best reviews, it looks like Spielberg wants to have another go at it—without Shia Labeouf this time.

As for the franchise continuing without Ford, Spielberg has admitted that they have to approach Indy in "a different form." He says wouldn't object to a woman being the new center of the franchise, but seeing that cinema already has a kickass female explorer in the form of Lara Croft, staying with the classic male protagonist seems to be the smartest route. You think Lucasfilm would want Alden Ehrenreich to play Indy as well?

Indiana Jones 5 is expected to hit theaters July 10, 2020.
