Star Wars: The Last Jedi New Footage May Have Debunked a Fan Theory

The epic meeting between Luke Skywalker and Rey may have been one of the cliffhanger moments in Star Wars history. But thanks to the first footage showcased at the shareholders annual meeting at Disney, the first footage of Star Wars The Last Jedi, which follows that scene has already been showcased.

Thankfully, fans also got a glimpse of this via Los Angeles Times' snippet updates. It appears that the first few words that Luke says is "Who are you?" before Rey is able to hand him the lightsaber.

The report also mentioned appearances of characters including Chewbacca, Finn, and General Leia Organa. What the latter's role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi remains to be seen but we have to remember that holistically, her role has run into problems following her passing back in December of last year, something that Walt Disney's Bob Iger did not fail to pay tribute to:

"Carrie Fisher has been an iconic part in this franchise from the very beginning. We all miss her. She has great talent and wit. We're proud that this movie coming up is part of her legacy."

Back to that teaser scene, however, it's possible that those first words may have shot down the fan theory that Luke is Rey's father. Almost everyone was starting to think this, especially with what happened with Luke and his own father, Anakin.

Still other theories abound, particularly the possibility that Rey is actually a female clone of Luke, which the latter doesn't know about. The fact that she has the Force, and that her resemblance with the younger Luke has further fueled this theory.

I guess instead of answering a few questions, these infamous three words have just set a lot of fans back on the speculation wagon, with nine more months to go.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be out in theaters on Dec. 15.
