Star Wars The Last Jedi: Deleted Scene has Luke Mourn Han's Death

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit digital today, and some deleted scenes from the film have been finding their way online. One particular scene has Luke Skywalker mourning the death of Han Solo after he discovered that the old scoundrel had died.

Check it out:

Originally, Rian Johnson planned for this sequence to transition to Leia, with the implication that both her and Luke were thinking about Han at the same time. Though I think the scene looks pretty emotional, maybe Johnson thought that it didn't fit quite well within the film.

Looking at Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there were already a lot of scenes where you would consider that Luke was mourning Han. There's the part where he comes to the cockpit and holds Han's golden dice, and when he meets with Leia, his lines about no one being ‘truly gone' felt more like it was referring to Han rather than Ben Solo.

I thought Mark Hamill did a splendid job in the movie, and after The Last Jedi, I'm hopeful to see more of him onscreen—even if it isn't a Star Wars film. I think it's a shame that the Oscars never considered anyone from Star Wars for a best actor/actress nomination. I thought Hamill and Adam Driver did splendid jobs.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now available on digital, and the film comes to Blu-Ray on March 27.
