The results of a new Star Wars fan survey are in, and they show that 63 percent of respondents believe that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be the film in the series ever. Back in August, legendary artist Drew Struzan said that The Force Awakens the best Star Wars film in the series.
However, the 37% percent of them said they think The Force Awakens won't be better than the previous six films. I think J.J. Abrams could top off any of the prequel films easily, and I won't be surprised if The Force Awakens turns out to be better than everyone's favorite, The Empire Strikes Back.
Variety reported this survey conducted by Harris Interactive on September 14-16. It also reveals that only 15 percent of fans said that J.J. Abrams' involvement with the film is the reason they're excited for it.
According to the poll, the biggest reason why respondants said they're excited to see the movie (36 percent) is that they expect it to have "more advanced CGI" effects. Following that, 25 percent said they believe the movie will have a "more interesting story" than past films, while another 25 percent reported that they think it will be "more true to the Star Wars series."
Finally, 14 percent think they had high hopes for The Force Awakens due to its "better cast" compared to previous installments in the blockbuster saga. The study also shows that 7 percent of respondents said they would trip an elderly person to get their hands on rare Star Wars merchandise, if it came to that. Check out the full results of the study at Variety. There were 2,031 respondents in the US aged 18 and older for who were polled in this study; 801 described themselves as Star Wars fans.
