Star Wars: The Force Awakens Makes $1.16 Billion To Join Top 10 Highest Grossing Films of All Time Worldwide

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has taken over the number 10 spot among the highest grossing films worldwide, knowcking out Minions from the Top 10.

The Force Awakens took the #10 spot among the highest grossest films of all time, surpassing Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Minions, with $1.16 billion. Next to beat is Iron Man 3. The movie hasn't even opened in China yet.

Domestically, the film has earned $571.4 million after a $31.4 million Monday. The Force Awakens will be the fifth film in history to cross $600 million domestically, following in the tracks of of The Avengers, Avatar, Jurassic World, and Titanic.

Overseas, Star Wars hauled in $39.4 million on Monday, raising its foreign total up to $589.7 million.

The Force Awakens was the fastest to reach $1 billion globally. At this rate, The Force Awakens will beat James Cameron's Avatar for the highest grossest film of all time, with a worldwide record of almost $2.8 billion.
