Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has not confirmed its official release date yet.

The live-action series began filming sometime in late June 2022 at the Manhattan Beach Studios in Manhattan Beach, California. It is the same studio where the other Disney+ Star Wars shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian, and the Ahsoka series were shot, too.

Other scenes for the series will be filmed in locations around Culver City and California State University in Dominguez, California.

While the Star Wars show was initially expected to release sometime this 2023 (given that it wrapped up filming this January), multiple reports have speculated that Skeleton Crew is facing a delayed release on Disney+.

That said, it is likely that the series is leaning towards a 2024 release.

It is also important to note that a leaked copyright filing (via MandoVerse) suggests that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew's release date will be '1/2024', meaning we could be looking at January 2024 as its official debut.

Then again, with LucasFilm yet to confirm nor deny this leaked release date, this is mere speculation.

Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, who previously worked together on Spider-Man: Homecoming, will be collaborating once more to write and direct Star Wars: Skeleton Wars. The Mandalorian producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni joined the creative team behind Skeleton Crew as producers.

The live-action Star Wars series also included Oscar-winning duo/Everything Everywhere All At Once directors The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), who will be joined by Green Knight helmer David Lowery.

Little is currently known about the potential plot of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, but series director Jon Watts gave us the basic premise of the show.

According to him, the live-action series follows a group of early-teenage kids who somehow got lost somewhere within the vast expanse of the Star Wars universe.

To find their way back home, the kids work together to overcome obstacles.

Watts also mentioned that the series is set at the same time as two of the other Star Wars spin-offs, The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.

Could this mean that there will be overlaps with the show? Will we be seeing characters crossing over to appear in Skeleton Crew? That, we would have to wait and see.

The director also emphasized that though the series will feature kids as the main characters, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is not a kid’s show, which means we can expect to see more serious themes and scenes that showcase the complexity of the Star Wars universe.

As of recent, there has been another leak apart from the speculated release date for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The synopsis of the first episode has been released under the US Copyright Databank, which you can read below:

In the first episode of the Skeleton Crew, we are introduced to four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet and get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies, will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.
