'Star Wars Rebels' Recruits 'Buffy' Star Sarah Michelle Gellar, Possible Role Revealed?

Lucasfilm and Disney's animated series Star Wars Rebels just ended its first season, but the series just keeps getting better

We already know that Kanan, one of the characters of Star Wars Rebels, is voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr., but now his wife and Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined the cast for Season 2 of this animated series.

"We're thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season two," Filoni told the Hollywood Reporter. "She is a true 'Star Wars Rebels' fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions."

Gellar shared a photo of herself and Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni in the recording studio on her Instagram with the caption: "Anyone want to guess..." --which sent fans in a frenzy of speculation over what character she would be playing.

Now a source told Starwarstime.com the role that she might be playing for the animated series:

Sarah Michelle Gellar will be voicing a new character based on Mara Jade named Aileen Zahn in honor of Timothy Zahn, Mara's creator. She will be an Inquisitor but pretending to be a Rebel.

That sounds like an exciting character who might be the one to replace the Inquisitor that you probably know died in the finale of Rebels' season 1. But none of these details have been confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney so treat this as a rumor for now.

Are you excited to see Gellar's role in the Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels?
