Star Wars Rebels’ Inquisitor Was Based On Design From The Force Awakens

The Star Wars Rebels Inquisitors were some of the Ghost Crew's most challenging opponents. Not only were the Inquisitors considered a threat because of their agility and their sharp lightsaber skills, but the Force sensitive Jedi-hunting "Mystics" also had fearsome character designs.

Now, Lucasfilm reveals that Rebels had actually taken the character concept of one of the Inquisitors from The Force Awakens. The design of the Fifth Brother, the Inquistor who had formerly been part of the Jedi Order, was actually taken from some character concept art from the Star Wars franchise's first sequel trilogy film.

With a quote from Lucasfilm Story Group member Kiri Hart that reads, "Anything that doesn't get used, we just put in the archive, because someday we may find a use for it somewhere else," fans are reminded how a lot of the aesthetic design of Rebels have sprung up from Ralph McQuarrie's original concept art – especially Zeb who's based on an early version of Chewbacca. No design gets wasted in the Star Wars franchise and it's fun to see how concepts come and go and grow into different things.

Star Wars Rebels airs every Saturday at 8:30 pm ET/PT on DisneyXD.
