Star Wars: Laura Dern Talks About How Hard It Is To Keep Her Role In The Last Jedi A Secret

With the rise of the internet, Hollywood is finding it harder and harder to hide their production secrets — save for Marvel and Lucasfilm. Nowadays, actors have to sign non-disclosure agreements that forbid them from spilling the beans. Laura Dern, who is playing a character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, has expressed how hard it is to keep tight-lipped, since she can't even tell her children about what her role is.

In an interview with Yahoo, Dern says, "It's hard in our own house. ‘Mom, you can at least tell us who you play.' I'd never put them in that position." Non-disclosure agreements can get pretty tough when you're involved with one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Giving info away could lead to a cut in your pay or — in some cases — it can get you fired from the production.

Dern is more positive that her kids will be more appreciative of her when the movie comes out. She jokes, "I was hoping for a little more respect. I'm hoping when they see the movie, I'll get a little more. A point."

As of now, we still have no clue who Dern is playing, but my best bet is that she's either a politician who survived the execution of the New Republic, or she's an officer that's pretty high-up in the ranks of the Resistance — like a next-gen Mon Mothma.

Laura Dern stars in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and it comes out on Dec. 15.
