Star Wars: How Disney Reacted to The Last Jedi's Audience Score

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have been Critically acclaimed but audiences have had a mixed reaction to the experience. There are those who were disappointed that the second film didn't follow up on some of the plot beats set up from The Force Awakens, while others hate how different it is from any other Star Wars films, even saying that it's worse than the prequel trilogy. This has resulted in a low audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, easily making this film one of the most controversial installments in the Star Wars trilogy.

However one feels about the film, Disney has noticed and they seem quite happy with the reaction it got. A representative from the company told Deadline that the film has left a big impression on the fanbase, which should lead to great word-of-mouth hype and repeated viewings for those that want to see the film again/solve more of its mysteries.

The following is the representative's statement:

"Rian Johnson, the cast, and the Lucasfilm team have delivered an experience that is totally Star Wars yet at the same time fresh, unexpected and new. That makes this a Star Wars film like audiences have never seen – it's got people talking, puzzling over its mysteries, and it's a lot to take in, and we see that as all positive, that should help set the film up for great word-of-mouth and repeat viewing as we enter the lucrative holiday period."

It looks like the people in Disney are pleased with the film and honestly, no one can blame them. The Last Jedi made a ton of money, historically being the second highest grossing film opening of all time.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is showing in theaters now.
