Star Wars: George Lucas Praises The Last Jedi

When Disney bought Star Wars and Lucasfilm, George Lucas had a very mixed reaction to the buyout. He's made some controversial comments, even comparing Disney to slave owners, which he later apologized for. It looks like the former Star Wars director has lightened his stance on that a bit since he just praised Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Connie Wethington, a representative of Lucas, told The Hollywood Reporter that the Phantom Menace director thought the film was "beautifully made." Furthermore, he supposedly had nice things to say to Rian Johnson, the director of The Last Jedi, which is always good to hear. It's good seeing Lucas say nice things about Star Wars again, especially after the whole "white slavers" incident.

Lucas' enjoyment isn't a huge surprise since The Last Jedi has received extremely positive reviews from critics and fans alike. It debuted with the highest Rotten Tomatoes rating ever given to a Star Wars film, which is high praise. J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode IX has a lot to live up to now.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters this week on December 15.
