Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Wants to Make Two Obi-Wan Spinoff Films

Ever since Disney revived the Star Wars franchise with the release of The Force Awakens last year, fans have been asking if Ewan Mcgregor reprising his prequel role as Obi-an Kenobi is in the realm of possibility. After all, the details for the third Star Wars spinoff film is still shrouded in mystery, and some fans are hoping that it would be an Obi-Wan-centric film.

Den of Geek asked McGregor about the possibility of an Obi-Wan spinoff film, and although he pointed out that there are currently no plans, he expressed interest in the idea:

"I've always thought there was a story to tell between my last one and Alec Guinness' first one. It would be fun to film that story now I'm older. I'd be the right age. I'm forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them (laughs)!"

McGregor also expressed what he hopes Lucasfilm and Disney explore in the Star Wars franchise, saying:

"I hope that they're going to explore different genres under the Star Wars banner. And one of those could be an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film. Or two! The Obi-Wan Kenobi Story Part 1 and Part 2!"

McGregor was my favorite actor in the prequels, and it would be awesome to see him back in action as a Master Jedi. The actor did say that he was tired of fans asking him if he would reprise the role, and although the possibility still remains unclear, I'm glad to hear him express his interest. Would you like to see McGregor wear his Jedi robes for new Star Wars spinoffs?
