Star Wars Battlefront’s Death Star Mode Details Revealed

EA and DICE have given fans a sneak peek of its upcoming Death Star Expansion Pack of Star Wars Battlefront.

At Gamescom, the developers announced that it will be delivering a new game mode, dubbed Battle Station. The introduction of the expansion will take fans into space battles the next time they play Star Wars Battlefront.

Announced over the offiical Star Wars Battlefront website, the new mode is set to bring players through three phase, each of which have a different objective. Phase 1 will see players flying X-wings and A-wings while battling against TIE interceptors and TIE fighters—in space!

The objective for Phase 1 is to destroy TIE fighters until Y-wings support can weaken the defenses of the Star Destroyer. For those on the side of the Empire, the goal is to make use of AI ships to defend the Star Destroyer.

Phase 2 will happen in a space station. Rebels will have to extract a priority droid from inside the Death Star. Advantage comes in the form of Bossk and Chewbacca, which will be the new heroes.

For the final phase, players who take up the Rebel cause can try to blow up the Death Star. They can either be the Rebellion hero Luke Skywalker, who gets on the Red-5 X-wing in an attempt to destroy the ultimate weapon. Of course, Darth Vader is on the other side, in his own TIE Advanced and tasked to protect the Death Star.

"Other new content will also be coming to the Death Star expansion including new Star Cards and Blasters, in addition to the aforementioned Heroes, Bossk and Chewbacca."

EA and DICE will still give a few more details on the new expansion. For now, the only release date hinted is a September launch for the space fights in Star Wars Battlefront Death Star Expansion Pack.
