Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Janina Gavankar Shares Her Feels for the Game

When you become a part of a franchise, especially one that has spanned generations and decades' worth of changes and additions to the franchise, it's impossible to keep emotions too contained—and that's all right.

One particular actress, Janina Gavankar experienced the overwhelming emotions that came with being cast in the latest game in the franchise, Star Wars Battlefront 2. According to her interview with The Star Wars Shot, the cast and crew that she had been nothing but great to her. This made her see the experience as "the coolest thing that's ever happened to me."

That's saying something, seeing as how Gavankar has been part of big-name projects before, including True Blood and The L Word. She shared that during the audition, there was a time when she would be hounding her reps to know if she got the position or not:

"Everything was on the line, more than any other thing I've ever been up for. it means so much to me, I've never been more safe to be my emotional, nerdy self, in any gig I've ever done."

Speaking more about her character, Gavankar also shared how it was to play Iden Versio:

"We know that every villain is the hero of her own story. It's exciting and it means a lot to be able to explain this perspective."

She also urged viewers to read Star Wars Battlefront II Inferno Squad, the book by Christie Golden. We already know what it will be about based on the title, but Gavankar emphasized that it was the way to get to know the backstory of the ones serving the Empire. That would be handy for those who would want to really play while in the shoes of the villain and understand where they're coming from.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be out on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on Nov. 17.
