Star Wars Battlefront 2 Release Target Revealed

Star Wars Battlefront will obviously have a sequel. From the looks of it, EA DICE is now ready to reveal that the sequel will have an estimated release date schedule for fall of 2017.

Revealed at an investor call (via Polygon), the developer revealed that the sequel is coming "a year from now," which suggests a fall timeline.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen did confirm that the team is already hard at work to deliver the best possible quality for the upcoming game.

"We're working very hard on making sure that is an extremely deep and engaging offering."

Given the timeline, this shows that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will not be made as an annual sequel release, since the first title was launched back in November 2015.

This does help in ensuring that the features that were revealed earlier this year can become a reality. Previous reports from earnings call to EA suggested that the sequel to Star Wars Battlefront will feature "bigger and better worlds." In addition, it will be featuring content from the newer movies.

If we look at the planned timeline of release, it is not impossible for the likes of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to arrive in the game. Do note that the developer has not yet revealed any titles to be included in the new game, but it is fun to speculate. There's a lot of material that it can cover, since the first game only tacked the original trilogy.

In any case, this will not be the only Star Wars title to come out from EA. The studio has been known to work on the Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission for the PlayStation VR, an untitled action Star Wars game from Visceral Games, and another title from Respawn Entertainment.
