Star Wars Actress Daisy Ridley Explains Why She Left Instagram

Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley made social media posts on social media that were a huge hit with fans, but back in August, the 24-year-old actress deactivated her Instagram account, reportedly after receiving online abuse. After the rumors spread, Ridley released a statement explaining that she left Instagram to avoid being "distracted" from her career.

Now, Ridley has returned to further discuss the reason. According to Sky News, Ridley recently attended the Student Academy Awards in Los Angeles as a presenter and briefly talked about her social media absense. Here's what she said:

"I felt a pressure being on it. I was like ‘I need to post. Oh my God, it's been this many days'. It's actually been kind of nice not to be on it. I'm 24. I have a lot of growing up to do. I have to deal with loads of stuff myself personally. For that to be projected with millions of people watching, that is like a bit of an extra pressure... I think some people handle it well. Just right now it's not for me, but who knows."

Ridley actually posted some interesting behind-the-scenes images and clips on her Instagram page. Hopefully, she'll return to post stuff from Star Wars: Episode VIII. In the meantime, you can check out her official Facebook page.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to release in theaters on December 15, 2017.
