Star Trek Beyond Has Wrapped Up Production, New Set Photos Emerged

As Star Trek will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, Trekkers are excited to see what the latest film in the rebooted franchise, Star Trek Beyond, will bring. Production has wrapped up for the film in Dubai, and the new photos that surfaced online reveal that the film will go where the rebooted franchise hasn't been before.

Writer and actor Simon Pegg has tweeted a new image of himself and co-writer Doug Jung, announcing the completion of the film's production. As the tweet says, the two are deeply contemplating "life after Trek."

But Pegg's photo isn't the only image that emerged from the set. As the film wrapped up, new photos from Instagram reveal new species that will show up in the film.

With more alien characters seen on the set of Star Trek Beyond, it seems that we're finally going to see Kirk and his crew discover planets farther from Earth. Previous Star Trek films in the rebooted series have featured the early years of the Enterprise crew, which have favored keeping things close to Earth, despite those aspects being more prominent in the original TV series than the films that followed. Thankfully, director Justin Lin will be taking the crew of the USS Enterprise on its five-year mission

Star Trek Beyond will blast into theaters on July 22, 2016.
