Star Trek 4’s First Teaser May Reunite Father and Son Duo, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine

The little Easter Egg that fans spotted in Star Trek Into Darkness may have been rumor fodder back in 2013. But now JJ Abrams has confirmed that one familiar face is coming back to Star Trek 4.

Abrams' 2009 entry into the Star Trek franchise introduced Chris Hemsworth as George Kirk. In the same movie, fans see the death of James Kirk's father by sacrificing himself for his son's and wife's survival.

But in the sequel, Star Trek: Into Darkness, eagle-eyed fans spotted two interesting names in the credits. Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon A Time), who played Kirk's parents George and Winona Kirk were actually credited in the movie, since they lent their voices to one scene in the movie.

The confirmation came from reporter Scott Mantz's Twitter (via Collider), who stated that there will be a reunion of the father-son duo.

The announcement is very timely indeed, considering the opening of the movie next weekend and the SDCC 2016 at the same time. San Diego Comic-Con 2016 attendees will have a chance to see Star Trek Beyond via the offsite premiere on July 20, Wednesday at the Embarcadero Marina Park. Fingers crossed that some clues for the next movie will also be announced at the event.

For those who can't attend SDCC 2016, Star Trek Beyond will be out in theatres on July 22.
