Episode 12 of Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles was just released, setting off an explosive ending to the season. The series of events left the final episode at somewhat of a cliffhanger. While there is no announcement regarding a second season yet, it definitely seems like Episode 12 has been set up in such a way that more episodes will hopefully come.

Rio interrupts the wedding and starts attacking all the soldiers to get to Celia. Once he gets to her, he points a knife at her throat, taking her hostage. Through telepathy, Rio asks Celia what she truly wants to do. Does she actually want to get married? He even asks her if House Arbor is threatening her. Also, he offers a solution to her—he's ready to kidnap her and take her away if that's what she wants. It seems that, in a way, Celia feels selfish in the case she does decide to put her own feelings first.
Reiss, who was watching on the sidelines, realizes that Rio was using spirit arts rather than some enhanced magical item. He then recognizes Rio, commenting that he's now stronger. Meanwhile, Charles is having a breakdown, screaming at the soldiers to apprehend the kidnapper and save Celia. Alfred steps up as the head of security, even though Charles told him condescendingly that he should be under his supervision in the previous episode.
Rio is running away with Celia in his arms. At one of the alleys, they meet up with Aishia. Rio passes Celia to Aishia's care. While the two are escaping, Rio will act as a decoy. Alfred catches up to Rio and the two of them battle. The rest of the soldiers stood there and watched in amazement. Alfred launched an extremely powerful attack that blew off the path in front of him, which would've obliterated Rio had he not avoided it. Alfred notes that Rio probably escaped.
In an open area surrounded by mountains, Rio meets up with Aishia and Celia. Celia is relieved and happy to see him. He tells her that there's something he needs to do, but he promises that he'll take care of her. While they were talking, multiple giant light beams around the area showed up out of nowhere. Aishia switches to a different person and calls Rio by the name Haruto, telling him to help "them".
Three people from modern-day Japan showed up, lost and confused by what just happened. They are suddenly abducted and kept in confinement. Rio arrives at the scene and attacks the kidnappers. He saves two people and asks them if there are any others. They said that there was one more person. As he opens the box where the third person is in, he's shocked to see Miharu Ayase, Haruto's childhood friend.
