Spider-Man Is Getting Silver Sable And Black Cat Team-Up Spinoff

It looks like Sony isn't just Tom Holland's Spider-Man isn't enough for Sony. The studio is expanding it's Spider-Man franchise with a new spinoff featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat.

Holland's debut as Marvel's witty web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Civil War last year was met with a lot of great reactions and it looks like Sony is taking their new relationship with Marvel Studios to a new level with a new team-up film for Black Cat and Silver Sable.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chris Yost from the Thor: Ragnarok production is working on the script for the Spider-Man spinoff, building up material based on the previous version of the movie written by the co-creator of HBO's Westworld, Lisa Joy. The film is being produced by Amy Pascal and Matt Tolmach.

Sony is hoping that they can start scouting for directors soon and are currently eyeing a fall premiere date.

For those who aren't quite familiar with the characters, Silver Sable is a mercenary character created by Tom Defalco and Ron Frenz back in 1985. Sable's company hunts war criminals and the character has been an ally and antagonist to Spider-Man in the comics. Meanwhile, Black Cat has been one of Spider-Man's romantic interests, an acrobatic cat burglar named Felicia Hardy. While the character first appeared on the big screen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as portrayed by Felicity Jones, it's likely that Sony will recast the character to fit in the new Spider-Man reboot.
