Spider-Man Homecoming's Jacob Batalon Talks About Friendship Between Ned And Peter

Jacob Batalon will be playing Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) best friend in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and a lot of people are curious as to how the pair's dynamic will work onscreen.

Talking to USA Today, Batalon himself has commented on the friendship between the two characters, and he says:

"He [Ned] understands Peter's life and he thinks he's the one who can help him deal with being a crimefighter and deal with girls."

Holland's webslinger may be the third modern version of the character that we're getting from Sony, but this is the first time that he'll actually have a friend that he can confide in when it comes to his secret identity.

Sure fans could say that Harry Osborn is Peter's best friend in most movies, but Harry eventually turns against Peter in all the films. This version of Ned, however, looks to be the Ron Weasley of the series, and it sure to offer some fun comic relief for the movie.

Tom Holland himself has also commented on the presence of Ned in the movie, and he admits:

"It's nice to be able to make up excuses of why he has to get out but then share a beat with Ned and be like, ‘I'm gonna go swing through New York' — the wink-wink scenario."

I'm looking forward to seeing Ned, since, even if Spider-Man is Peter's journey to being a hero, he would always need someone along his side to help him through those tough times. No (Spider)man is an island, and Ned is just one of the rocks that Peter needs to keep him on his feet.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 7.
