Sony's Venom Movie Starts Filming In September

Sony is moving full steam ahead with this Venom solo movie, and the movie is said to start production way sooner than expected.

According to Omega Underground, Venom will start filming this coming Sept. 1 in Atlanta and New York City. It's been confirmed that Zombieland director Ruben Fletcher is taking the helm, and the lead character Eddie Brock will be played by Mad Max: Fury Road's Tom Hardy.

Some may say that this production is moving too quickly, but Sony already had plans for a Venom solo film way back when they were making Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield. I'm guessing that now they have a new Spider-Man that everyone seems happy with, they can now move forward with all the Spider-Man-related spinoffs that they initially planned.

Some fans are not too happy with the announcement of this movie since it's unclear on whether Venom will be related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe much like Spider-Man is. Marvel head Kevin Feige has said that Marvel doesn't have anything to do with this movie, but that doesn't necessarily mean that this movie isn't connected with the bigger MCU.

We'll just have to wait and see if Sony can deliver this movie properly. After all, you can't just make a Venom franchise without expecting him to clash with Spider-Man at some point.

Venom is set to come out Oct. 5, 2018, and Spider-man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7.
