Sony Preparing Five Or Six Series For Spider-Man

It looks like Sony has a lot of projects for Spider-Man outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For the past few weeks, Marvel fans have been holding on to the hope that Sony might find a way to clear up the Spider-Man agreement with Disney, allowing Tom Holland's version of the wallcrawler to stay in the MCU. Unfortunately, it seems like Sony wasn't able to patch things up with the Mickey Mouse House, and for now, the MCU door remains closed on Holland's Spider-Man.

That doesn't mean that we'll see less of Peter Parker though.

Speaking in an interview with Variety, Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra reassures fans that the studio is going to keep Spider-Man busy. According to the Sony exec, the studio is currently working on multiple Spider-Man series both for television and for streaming platforms. Right now, Sony is working on a "five or six" series in the franchise.

Not only that, but Sony is excited to see Spider-Man play with the different characters in the studio's SUMC (Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters). After all, what is the use of having movies about Venom (Tom Hardy), Carnage (Woody Harrelson), and other Spider-Man villains if Sony doesn't have Peter Parker to appear in them?

It might help ease the heartbreak, however, fans are still disappointed that Spider-Man still can't return to the MCU. Fans fell in love with Holland's version of the wallcrawler ever since he first appeared in Captain America: Civil War and they were hoping that Spider-Man would continue taking a more active role in the MCU. Such a shame that the negotiations between Sony and Disney fell through.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is expected to receive its digital release date sometime this October.
