Sonic the Hedgehog Sequel Already in Development at Paramount

Have you been hoping for a Sonic the Hedgehog sequel? It looks like your prayers have been answered. A new report confirms that a second film is currently in development at Paramount Pictures.

According to Variety, the studio is once again teaming up with Sega Sammy for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The sequel will once again be helmed by Jeff Fowler and will be bringing back co-writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller to pen the screenplay. In addition to that, Toby Ascher, Neal H. Moritz, and Toru Nakahara will produce the film alongside Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, and Tim Miller, who will serve as executive producers.

It is still unclear if the cast of the first movie will be returning but there's a good chance that Ben Schwartz will continue to provide the voice of Sonic. Additionally, we're keeping our fingers crossed in hopes that we haven't seen the last of Jim Carrey's Doctor Robotnik.

But what could happen in Sonic 2? There's a possibility that the sequel will introduce some of Sonic's friends. After all, the post-credits scene of the first film already featured Tails, who is looking for Sonic. We're not sure who else will appear in the movie but we'll update as soon as we get more news.

The first Sonic movie originally suffered from backlash after the first trailer showed a very different Sonic. Luckily, Paramount decided to re-design the character, resulting in a very positive response from the fans. Let's hope that we can expect the same thing from the sequel.
