Sonic the Hedgehog Concept Art Shows Sega's Icon Fighting Alongside Chris Evans

Sonic the Hedgehog looks like it will be the most financially successful video game movie ever released thus far, making a ton of money on its opening weekend and will likely make more. It seems like all the goodwill Paramount Pictures got for updating the character model has led to this moment, though we're hoping that a future sequel takes place in Sonic's world with Tails and Knuckles.

As much as we like James Marsden, no one believes he was the reason this movie did well (the same can't be said for Jim Carrey though), with many seeing him as a replaceable straight-man character. Turns out that he wasn't the first choice as some concept art has revealed Chris Evans as a possible co-star for the then-horrendous Sonic character model.

We doubt Evans would have made the movie better, though, as Scott Pilgrim once said, he is a pretty good actor. Then again, the character Marsden plays is such a typical straight man that we doubt Evans would have been able to add any necessary depth to him. While we won't hate this character returning, most of us would rather have a movie with Knuckles and Tails in it.

Of course, by "most of us" I mean Sonic the Hedgehog fans and furries. We're still a big part of the movie's market though so don't underestimate us.

Fans can catch Sonic the Hedgehog right now in theaters.
