Sonic the Hedgehog 2's New Poster Pokes Fun at The Batman

As The Batman is heading for its release this week, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is meanwhile starting to gear up their marketing campaign as it is set to be released next month. Just like any other film marketing, they have released posters and trailers to hype up the audience's excitement, especially after the success of the first film which was released right before the pandemic.

Recently, a new Sonic the Hedgehog 2 poster was released which seemingly poked fun at The Batman. We see Sonic standing at the edge of a rooftop while looking at what looks like the Bat-Signal but instead it's his face. There's also the hashtag "#BlueJustice" which is in reference to the scene that was shown in the trailers where James Marsden's Tom Wachowski tells Sonic to stop pretending to be Batman after calling himself the "Blue Justice."

It is a great marketing move for the film as they are going along with The Batman hype that is happening at the moment. It's an opportunity for them to remind everyone that the movie is set to be released next month. At the same time, it's also a great parody that is reminiscent of the older Batman films and, with the playful nature of the Sonic the Hedgehog films, it is a perfect marketing tool for them.

The first Sonic the Hedgehog was a huge success at the box office and it played very well even though it was released weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown happened worldwide. Prior to the release of the second film, Paramount announced that a third installment is already in the works as well as a Knuckles spinoff series for Paramount+ with Idris Elba reprising the voice role.
