As the release date for Solo: A Star Wars Story draws nearer, Disney has announced their new partners when it comes to the film's promotional campaign. Funnily enough, SOLO, the company famous for making red plastic cups, has been listed as one of the sponsors.

According to Disney's VP of global marketing partnerships Lylle Breier:

"Our six promotional partners for ‘Solo: a Star Wars Story' have done a fantastic job developing first-class, innovative campaigns in support of the film. We are excited to share the compelling experiences and relevant activations that our partners have created for our fans."

SOLO will be joined by other companies such as Denny's restaurant chain, Nissan, Symantec cybersecurity, Esurance insurance, and General Mills when it comes to the campaign.

The promotional tie-in with SOLO is funny since, when production started for the film, the working title was Star Wars: Red Cup, alluding to the famous plastic cup brand. It's only fate that the actual brand would help in promoting the film.

We haven't seen that much promotional material for Solo: A Star Wars Story yet, but we should expect more to come as May draws nearer. Lucasfilm is trying to juggle promotion for Solo and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and I'm expecting Solo marketing to go full blast once The Last Jedi hits home video.

Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out May 25.
