Sink Your Fangs into Hour of Devastation's New Split Magic: The Gathering Card

The official previews for Magic: The Gathering's next set Hour of Devastation continues with more spoilers, including a new green/black split card called Driven // Despair. Check it out:

First, let's admire the cool art by Winona Wilson. I love how the two illustrations connect and how they thematically fit with the card's effects.

Since Driven // Despair is an Aftermath split card, the modes are played as separate spells —once from your hand, and if it's already in your graveyard, you can cast the Aftermath half—but of course, they can be used together on the same turn to bring the power of their synergy.

If you manage to have enough creatures to power up with this split card, you can take down your opponent's life points while gaining card advantage and disrupting their hand, but because both modes are Sorcery speed, you have to be precise. It's only good in certain situations and only fits in creature-heavy decks but if you have a deck built to take advantage of Driven // Despair, you can get ahead of the game quickly.
