Simon Pegg Wants To Be The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain Britain

Simon Pegg might not be part of Marvel's roster of superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but if the Star Trek actor and writer could have his way, he'd play Captain Britain.

Pegg just recently sat down to speak with JoBlo's JimmyO about his upcoming film Terminal and the state of the Star Trek franchise. During the interview with the publication, Peg was asked which superhero he had grown up with and which superhero he'd want to play if he had the chance.

"I mean, Captain Britain was this Marvel superhero that I loved growing up, 'cause he was the British member of that community. I even have a Captain Britain mask when I was a kid, but I fear I would probably be slightly too old now, but if they do have… If a Captain Britain movie comes about, they're gonna need a British cast, so… I'll be waiting"

Pegg's answer isn't surprising. A lot of British actors would want to be Captain Britain. Last month Loki actor Tom Huddleston even admitted that he had wanted to play Brian Paddock (or Galactus).

For those who aren't familiar with the character, Captain Britain is a hero given extraordinary powers b the magician Merlyn as well as his daughter Roma. Design exclusively for the British comic market, Captain Britain is assigned to uphold the laws of his country.

It's pretty understandable why Captain Britain would be a popular choice among British celebrities. Though Marvel is planning to fill the whole Avengers 4 will leave with another franchise, we'll have to wait and see whether the studio will bring Captain Britain into play.

Marvel's newest installment, Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
