Simon Pegg Had A Sequel Idea For Shaun Of The Dead Which Would Have Vampires Instead Of Zombies

Edgar Wright's cult classic Shaun of the Dead turns thirteen this year, and star Simon Pegg reveals that he had an idea for the sequel that would have had Shaun fighting against vampires this time instead of zombies.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Pegg explains:

"I jokingly wrote a treatment for From Dusk Till Shaun, which was a sequel. Edgar thought it would be funny to do the film again, with vampires. It was all just pub talk."

Of course, we never got any sequel to Shaun of the Dead; instead, we got Hot Fuzz and The World's End, two movies that would join Shaun in a trilogy of films that would be infamously called The Cornetto Trilogy, with each movie standing in for a tribute to specific genres of movies. Shaun would be an ode to classic zombie/horror movies; Hot Fuzz would parody several police action films; and The World's End would deal with aliens and sci-fi.

Though I love whenever Pegg, Wright, and Nick Frost work together, I think this From Dusk Till Shaun movie sounds too much like the same thing. What's more, after the whole Twilight phenomenon, it seems that everyone in the audiences are getting tired of vampires onscreen.

There's no telling when we're going to see Wright and Pegg work together again, but the two seem to have branched out to do their own thing, and swimmingly if I may add. Baby Driver has made Wright one of the most talked-about directors of 2017, and Pegg has done some great work with the latest Star Trek movie.

Hopefully they come back together to make some more movie magic.
