Silent Hills is Cancelled, Del Toro and Norman Reedus Confirm

Silent Hills, Guillermo del Toro's planned survival horror game set in the world of the popular Silent Hill franchise, is sadly dead, according to the filmmaker.

"It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart," del Toro is quoted as saying by entertainment journalist Matt Hackney.

Silent Hills' cancellation is likely tied to Hideo Kojima's recent annoucement of leaving Konami. Kojima, the planned director of Silent Hills, will leave the game developer after Metal Gear 5: The Phantom Pain is released in September.

The Japanese developer said that it will continue to develop the Silent Hill series, but it fails to deny that Silent Hills has been canceled.

The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, who was planned to play a character in the game, confirmed the project being dead on Twitter.

"Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone," Reedus wrote in a tweet linking to an article on Fansided about del Toro's statement.

That's unfortunate that the project has been cancelled. I was really looking forward to playing this game. I hope del Toro and Reedus will revive the project with Konami somehow, even without Kojima's touch. So are you bummed that this game is cancelled?
