Shazam: Billy Batson's Personal Mission Revealed

The light-hearted tone of DC's Shazam trailer has proven to be a success as everyone who has seen it is now excited for the actual movie. While the trailer mostly focused on Billy trying out his new-found powers, the movie will have to delve into his character a bit more but director David F. Sandberg did give fans an idea on the character's motivations.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Sandberg revealed that Billy is convinced that his family is still alive and continues to look for them. Apparently, his mother is still out there and Batson will do whatever he can to find her, which is probably why he is so abrasive about being part of a new step-family.

"He's trying to find his family... His mom is still out there. But once he gets these powers, he's just trying to figure out what to do with them and how it works. For that he needs his friend Freddie, who is like a superhero expert, who helps him to discover his powers and how to be a superhero."

However, his sudden meeting with the wizard obviously changes a few things and he is forced to get used to his new superpowers. Freddie, his adopted brother, will help him out as seen in the trailer since he really seems to be into all this superhero stuff. It has made for some cute interactions between Freddie and the hero formerly known as Captain Marvel.

Shazam will hit theaters on April 5, 2019. It could be the best Worlds of DC movie, or at the least, the funniest.
