I was pretty disappointed that we only got to see Frank Castle don his iconic costume in the end of Daredevil season two, but I am excited to see more of him in his own Punisher spin-off series. The show had just recently wrapped filming, and now we have some set photos of Jon Bernthal in the iconic skull vest.
The photos have been posted up on Twitter by Fantastik C. Marvel; check them out:
To be honest, I am impressed that the design team was able to give an update on the Punisher's iconic logo, but the explanation for how he comes up with the white skull was a bit farfetched. I don't know, maybe I just need to take a better look at it.
Though initially doubtful of the choice to have Jon Bernthal play The Punisher, his introduction in Daredevil was just the perfect setup for the character. He's violent, unforgiving, and unapologetic — just what you want in a universe full of goody-two-shoes heroes.
No specific release date has been announced for the show, but expect The Punisher to release on Netflix sometime this year.
