Sega's Director of Animation Wants a New Sonic the Hedgehog Cartoon on TV

With a Sonic the Hedgehog movie coming out and actually looking better this time, fans are actually a bit excited to see it, even if the studio who saved Sonic's look ended up closing down. Though fans are pretty excited to see the movie, some fans wish this was a purely animated film since the character is known for appearing in various animated shows.

Fans have been wanting a new Sonic cartoon since shows like The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic SatAM are considered by many to be pseudo-classics, though SatAM has more fans than Adventures. Well, Sega's Director of Animation, Yukio Kusumoto, said that the world is ready for another Sonic the Hedgehog animated series.

Here's what Kusumoto said to ComicBook.com:

I think the world is definitely ready for another TV show, and I would love to work on it. There are several discussions and this is coming from me personally [...] I would love Sonic to continue, so I'll keep trying to put more stuff out there.

Most of the Sonic fans seem to enjoy what shows we've gotten so far, even the very childish Sonic X. Sonic Boom, the last animated series based on Sega's iconic mascot, is also a big favorite since it actually has some great fourth-wall-breaking jokes. That being said, if we could get an animated series that looks like the Sonic Mania shorts, it's pretty awesome.

Sonic the Hedgehog comes to cinemas on February 14, 2020.
