Sebastian Stan On His First Reaction To Bucky’s Fate In Avengers: Infinity War

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel fans who've already seen Avengers: Infinity War knows what happens at the end of the film. After collecting all six Infinity Stones, Thanos manages to flick his finger while he has Thor's new axe sticking right in the middle of his chest, killing off half of the population of the universe. One of the many Avengers who fell victim to the Mad Titan's massacre was the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).

Speaking with fans at a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia last weekend (via Comicbook.com), Stan decided to open up about his first reaction when he found out that Bucky was going to hit the bucket in Infinity War.

"I remember the day on set and James Young, who is one of my talented, glorious stuntmen … on this film, came up to me and told me what was happening," the Marvel star remembered. When he realized that his character was going to turn to dust, the only thing Stan could really say was "Oh. Ok."

Stan went to Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo to ask about Bucky's death and whether the Winter Soldier might stay six feet under for good. As usual, the Russo brother tried his best to be coy about his answer, telling the actor "No, well, you know, maybe. But not really. Well, I don't know."

There's no way the director would give Stan the proper answer given the lengths the Russo brothers went to keep their two-part Avengers movie spoiler free. Expect fewer spoilers for Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
