Sea of Thieves Servers Were Not Ready For Its Massive Influx of Players

Microsoft and Rare Studios just released Sea of Thieves a couple of days ago, and now, the open-world game is struggling to keep up with the heavy influx of players worldwide.

The game was initially released in New Zealand on Monday morning, with other regions gradually being added until it reached North America by Tuesday morning, and just a few hours after it was released in the U.S., the Sea of Thieves Twitter account shared its first message about the server concerns.

"Ahoy Pirates for an update! We are seeing join rates on our servers faster than we have ever seen with the US online," it tweeted. "people are getting in steadily and our team is working now on it to manage the load... appreciate your patience while we work through this.

The connection problems doubled as more American players who were able to buy the game ahead of release, we're trying to join. Those who were trying to access the game via Xbox Game Pass were also having issues. Many were reporting technical problems such as experiencing random disconnection, matchmakin errors, and connecting to the game.
