Scott Derrickson Teases Classic Comic Character For Doctor Strange Sequel

2016's Doctor Strange was a big hit for Marvel, and though no plans have been announced, it looks like the MCU is going to be expanding on the Marvel Mystic Universe. Director Scott Derrickson is answering a whole bunch of questions on Twitter recently, and he just teased the possible introduction of the sorceress, Clea.

Possibly Nightmare, but he's a tricky villain to get right. And you can't tell the story of Doctor Strange w/out eventually dealing w/Clea. https://t.co/C4mZYgGkkA

In the comics, Clea hailed from the Dark Dimension, and her mother is the sister of Dormammu. Despite the relation, Clea is constantly in odds with Dormammu, because her father, Prince Orini, is said to be the true ruler of the Dark Dimension before Dormammu usurped his spot.

It's also no surprise that Clea has been a love interest of Strange, and she has even lived together with him in the Sanctum Sanctorum. It would be interesting to see what kind of powers she has, seeing as she's a native of the Dark Dimension. Perhaps she could even rival the Ancient One?

Marvel is currently focusing on production for The Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, so no official announcements on the Doctor Strange sequel have been made as of now.
