School Girl Zombie Hunter is an Action Shooter for the PS4

Zombies, check. School girls, check. Blood, guns, and a lot of torn clothes, check.

This is D3 Publisher's newest game heading to the PS4. While we're hot on the heels of anything zombie—from the West's The Walking Dead to the recent hit movie Train to Busan in the East—it seems like the gaming scene isn't to be outstepped.

The latest Weekly Famitsu (via Gematsu) has announced the SG/ZH School Girl/Zombie Hunter title, which is slated for a Japanese launch for now.

The story of the game takes place after a massive zombie outbreak—don't they all?—which happens in the Musaku High School. Players will be faced with five school girls who are left in the school to survive.

From the released images, however, it's had to really picture them as just school girls. You have a gothic girl, a Victorian-inspired red dress, a very sexy cowgirl outfit, and, well, your regular school girl uniform almost hidden in the shadows. I'm guessing these are the options for costume, not unless, maybe the zombie outbreak caught them during the school festivals event.

The five survivors as follows:

Rise Kubota: Specializing in assault rifle and long sword
Sayuri Akiba: Handles handgun and a wooden sword.
Mayaya Himeji: Main weapons are a sub machine gun and a bat.
Enami Kamijou: Features a sniper rifle and kick techniques.
Rei Kanezaki: Has a shotgun and karate moves.

Each character has a melee/woman-to-zombie weapon as well as long-range weapons. What I'm wondering is whether these means it's really more about controlling one girl as a lead in tandem with the other girls, Final Fantasy XV-style combat.

According to the report, the game will also feature a clothes-tear system. Funnily enough, zombies will supposedly "react" when the girls' clothes are removed, so they can be used as a decoy. I don't know if I should laugh or be appalled by that mechanic. Maybe that will bring a new meaning to the term "survival of the fittest."

The developer is already 70% complete with the game. SG/ZH School Girl/Zombie Hunter is slated for a Jan. 12, 2017 release date in Japan.
