Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury may be the one character that's threading the Marvel superhero movies into one huge universe, but there is very little chance of him doing his own movie. Jackson can fire up the scrreen more ways than one, but it all depends on scheduling. In a press con for Kong: Skull Island, he admits he would love to do a Nick Fury solo, but the decision is up to the studio:
"Yeah, I'd love to do a Nick Fury movie. I'm always open and game. But they got Infinity Wars, two movies to do there, and after that there's Brie [Larson's] movie Captain Marvel, which maybe [Nick] will be part of."
In the press con attended by We Got This Covered, he was also very candid - Nick Fury-style - about his non-appearance in Black Panther. He asked them why the "only other black superhero on the planet" is not fighting side-by-side with Waikanda's hero? Their answer, plain and simple: Fury is not on that side of the world.
Looks like it's only the non-powered heroes who are in Marvel's waiting list. Scarlett Johansson is in the same boat as far as a solo Black Widow film is concerned. In the meantime, Fury fans can add their voices to the clip below:
Kong: Skull Island, directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, will open in cinemas on March 10, 2017. Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, will be out on February 16, 2018. Avengers: Infinity War, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, will be released on May 4, 2018.
