Ryan Gosling on Why He Joined Blade Runner Sequel

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve heard Ryan Gosling speaking about the much anticipated Blade Runner sequel. Back in April, hespoke about the pressuresof joining the movie. Then last week, he told in another interview how excited he is over the production of a film of such a scale.

Now, the 35-year-old Canadian actor is revealing what exactly drew him to Blade Runner 2.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM Entertainment Weekly Radio (ch. 105) for his new movie, The Nice Guys (viaEntertainment Weekly), Gosling carefully detailed his thoughts over the highly secretive sequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic movie. He told EW senior writer Clark:

I’m looking around as you say that, because I think there’s a sniper up there in the corner if I say too much.
I’m a huge fan of the original and thought – just as a fan of it – that Ridley and Harrison wanted to extend that story was exciting.
Then to be asked to be a part of that and help tell that story in some way felt like such a great opportunity.

To be helmed by Denis Villeneuve, filming for the Blade Runner sequel is set to begin this summer. Scott will be executive producing the film and Harrison Ford is reprising his role as Rick Deckard.

Apparently, their involvement in the film is what baited Gosling.

The cast of the film has constantly grown over the past few weeks.Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, and most recently, Dutch Actress Sylvia Hoeks has joined the movie.

Blade Runner 2 is expected to be released on October 6, 2017, shifting from its original date of Jan 13, 2018. Meanwhile, Shane Black’s The Nice Guys is slated for release on May 20.
