Rumors were coming out last week that Captain Marvel was supposed to be in Avengers: Infinity War but here scenes were cut. Now new comments from the Russo Brother seemingly confirm that Carol Danvers is definitely in the movie.
Talking to ET, Joe Russo said:
"Yeah, we have some great female characters in this… Captain Marvel is in it, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, we have Wakanda is coming in and there's a whole group of characters that are coming from the Wakandan universe, from the Black Panther universe. Amazingly strong characters, strong-willed characters, and we have the Guardians, and two of the Guardians are daughters of Thanos so there's a really strong connection to the main villain of the story and I think you'll see in the film that they're very pivotal to the storyline and I think the arcs are fantastic so, we're really really proud of being able to introduce Captain Marvel in this one."
It seems that Captain Marvel's introduction will follow that of the DCEU's Wonder Woman, what with the character being introduced in a team-up then getting her own solo movie. What's more, the Captain Marvel movie is also a period piece, but the time-jump will take us to the 90s instead of the early 1900s.
Even without Captain Marvel, Infinity War already contains a very crowded cast. I'm curious how they could keep her in the movie and at the same time make her feel relevant as a character when it comes to the clash with Thanos. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Avengers: Infinity War comes out April 27.
