RUMOR: Marvel and Fox to Cancel X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants?

Next year is going to be another big one for superhero movies, with Marvel releasing Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, and Spider-Man: Far From Home, while DC has Shazam and Wonder Woman 1984. Fans are also expecting two bix X-Men films from Fox in Dark Phoenix and New Mutants but if this rumor is anything to go by, it looks like these two might end the franchise on a low point.

According to a rumor from a "trusted source" in the SHH forums (via ComicBookMovie), the executives in Disney and Fox are not pleased with either Dark Phoenix or New Mutants. Both films are going through a lot of reshoots, which were so extensive that both films needed to get delayed, with New Mutants, in particular, getting delayed twice.

Take this with a grain of salt but apparently, both films are pretty bad with New Mutants possibly being another Fant4stic for Fox. It's being said that Josh Boone's inexperience with big-budget movies like these is costing the company a lot and is the director in credits alone, just like Josh Trank with Fant4stic.

Both Disney and Fox are supposedly considering canceling both films, which would be a costly embarrassment if it actually happens.

None of this is confirmed so fans should merely speculate and not necessarily take this as fact. Still, it's fun to speculate on as long as fans aren't too angry and toxic about it.

Both X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants are scheduled for 2019 releases, the former being on February 14 and the latter on August 2.
