Rumor: Hugh Jackman To Return As Wolverine Should The Disney/Fox Acquisition Push Through

Hugh Jackman may have bowed out of the Wolverine role earlier this year with Logan, but with the talks of Disney acquiring Fox before the end of the year, it's possible that Jackman would make good with a comment he made on what would bring him back as Wolverine.

Earlier this year, Jackman had said (via Express) that the only way he would return as Wolverine is if he somehow Fox and Marvel were able to bring together the X-Men and the Avengers:

"Because I always love the idea of him [Wolverine] within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there are a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can't figure that out."

Jackman has also said this about Logan possibly being his "last" portrayal:

"You never know. At the moment, honestly, if I really did have them there, I probably wouldn't have said this is the last."

Though I would love to see Jackman return as Wolverine, I'm all up for a rebooted X-Men universe courtesy of Marvel Studios. With the current Fox timeline as messed up as it is, I just want everything on a clean slate. Maybe they can just take Deadpool and say that it takes place on a totally different timeline. They do have a different Collosus, and everyone loves Ryan Reynold's Wade Wilson.

Maybe Thanos' arrival can trigger a melding of universes that introduces mutants to the MCU? I'm just spit-balling, but I honestly think a reboot is the best option. Maybe we can have a comic-accurate Wolverine this time who's short and more ferocious?

The Disney/Fox deal is expected to get finalized this week.
