Rogue One: BTS Images Of Pre-CGI Leia Leaked Online

Just like with Grand Moff Tarkin, the production of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was able to recreate a younger Princess Leia by having actress Ingvild Deila stand-in and replacing her face with Carrie Fisher's via CGI. Some images from the set have popped up on Reddit, and we can see Ms. Deila before they transformed her for the big screen.

What's also cool about the image is, if you look at the top picture, on the left you can see director Gareth Edwards (I assume) dressed in what looks like his rebel garb. In the movie, Edwards has a cameo in the end where he plays the rebel soldier who pulls a lever and launches Tantive IV into space. Edwards has admitted that this was his favorite cameo in the movie as well.

With Carrie Fisher's passing, Disney has confirmed that they will not be using any CGI to recreate Princess Leia in the future. The production actually got permission from Fisher to use her image in Rogue One, and the actress was even able to see the finished product herself before she died, claiming that she "loved it."

As for Princess Leia's future in Star Wars, Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that Fisher's passing has not affected her role in The Last Jedi in any way, and Fisher's performance will stay as is.

Carrie Fisher will return in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which comes out Dec. 15.
