Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is Getting Its Own Evil Droid

There's a new droid in town, and it may just be the evil doppelganger of our beloved R2-D2.

Of course, that's based on the design alone, which was just revealed in The Star Wars Show, seen below. The "evil" R2-D2 looks very much like the original, except he has a more Darth Vader feel about him. True to his form, he is very much over at the Dark Side, thanks to his all-black finish.

The droid is confirmed to be on the side of the Imperial Army, and according to HitFix, it may be playing quite the role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This was also hinted by the official Star Wars YouTube channel, where the dark R2-D2, called C2-B5, was first shown off.

"This week, The Star Wars Show (featuring Holo Andi!) exclusively reveals a BRAND NEW droid from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Rayne Roberts of the Lucasfilm Story Group discusses The Force Awakens and Rogue One, we look at the Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Two Blu-ray and DVD release, and much more!"

We all know that R2-D2 served a very good purpose back in its day when it delivered that Leia hologram message. C2-B5 may not have the same pivotal role, considering that these droids are more subject to memory wipes.

You can check out the full Star Wars Show below. The show reveals a few more tidbits about a new toy line for the Rogue One movie, as well as an interesting take on that hologram trick.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be out in theaters on Dec. 14.
