Ridley Scott Thinks Alien Franchise Should Be Just As Loved As Star Wars And Star Trek

The Alien franchise has been around for a long time, and director Ridley Scott's got a lot more movies for fans, saying that the film ought to have the same level of love as Star Wars and Star Trek.

Sitting down to speak with the Toronto Sun, the director of the first Alien movie and a majority of the other films explains how to make sure that the science-fiction horror franchise thrive.

"There's no reason why Alien should now not be on the same level for fans as Star Trek and Star Wars. So I think the next step as to where we go is, do we sustain the Alien(series) with the evolution of the beast or do we reinvent something else? I think you need to have an evolution on this famous beast because he's the best monster ever, really."

The director's yearning for Alien "to be on the same level for fans as Star Trek and Star Wars" doesn't come as a surprise. The first Alien film is about just as old and well-loved as the original Star Wars movie, A New Hope.

Scott was also asked by the Vulture whether he'd be interested in directing a Star Wars movie, however the filmmaker crushed fans' hopes, saying that he was just "too dangerous for that."

Scott returned to the franchise earlier this year to present Alien: Covenant, and though the film received mixed reviews from audiences, it seems like the filmmaker's ready to work on even more Alien installments. Sure, Fox might have reportedly canceled the Covenant sequel, but Scott's still got a lot of enthusiasm to keep him going.
