Rick and Morty Season 3 Clip Brings Back All the Toon Violence

Rick and Morty fans may have been experiencing withdrawal following the end of Season 2 way back late last year.

But it doesn’t look like creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland will make the wait any easier. That’s because at the San Diego Comic-Con, a season 3 footage was released, teasing what appears to be a drawing-board version of an episode’s scene.

Here we see Rick, who appears to be in a prison of sorts. The kicker is that he doesn’t look anything like himself. In fact, only the facial expressions and the voice (care of Justin Roiland) will let fans distinguish that this is, indeed, the mad scientist.

He transforms himself from what appears to be an alien-like state to an equally alien-like appearance, with new parts attached Iron Man suit-style that cut through rats’ flesh like butter.

Of course, it won’t be Rick and Morty without all the violence. Even though it’s mostly black and white pencil animation, you can see the blood and colored guts from the gigantic alien rats as Rick proceeds to slice and dice every one of them.

The second season of Rick and Morty had seen the grandpa scientist locked in maximum security following his so-called crimes—still doesn’t explain the fact that he doesn’t even look human here. But I guess it’s Rick and Morty we’re talking about here, so anything can go anywhere.

If you think a sneak peek clip means the show is getting back in August, a speculated date from fans all over, then you’re in for a disappointment. Speaking with Collider, Harmon confirmed that there still aren’t any specific dates for season 3. However, he did hint that season 3 will be the most epic so far for the series, and one that will see loose ends deal with.

I guess that sort of explains the madness in the clip above. Let’s hit the replay button as we wait for more details to arrive for Rick and Morty’s return.
