Rick & Morty Creators Surprised At The Game of Thrones Jab in Their Show’s Post-Credits

After Sunday's Rick and Morty episode, an "in memoriam" card appeared with the line: ""The Writing on Game of Thrones [2011-2016]." The apparent jab at HBO's popular series was caught by fans, and many believed that Rick and Morty co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon were behind it.

However, Roiland wants viewers to know that he had no intentions of dissing Game of Thrones. He took it to Twitter to confirm that he had nothing to do with the jab. The official Rick and Morty account also echoed the message.

An Adult Swim representative told Polygon that it was a member of the Adult Swim team that made the Bumper.

Rick and Morty is set to return on September 10 at 11:30 p.m. ET on Adult Swim.
